It was a nice day to be at the beach, soaking up the rays, playing in the surf---until I was in, waist deep and I felt my wedding band slip down my finger and into the sea. At this point it was about 4 o'clock on a very busy beach, I called out to Kelly, to please go find some goggles, asap...and I tried to not say as loud "because I just dropped my ring". Also to the rescue came Ryan and Sheila, who had just showed up- what a way to spend the afternoon- diving for my ring. We ended up getting to use 2 pairs of goggles, each taking turns diving. The tide was coming in and it was very difficult to see through the murky water much less troll along the bottom, being such salty water. At about 6:30 we decided it was all we could do, we had to make a decision, go get a metal detector and come back at low tide (10:30) or just cut our losses, do a craiglist ad and hope for the best. Well evidently the group I was with was not interested in quiting. Kelly and Ryan were going to see if trusty Canadian Tire had a metal detector is stock. Hello- Bounty Hunter "Treasure Detector"! They practiced a bit after dinner; we went and got headlamps and gardening shovels from home- then we headed out once again.
I remembered the camera and I will let the photos tell the last hour and a half of the story.

The beach at dusk as we arrived..

we all walked straight into the water- just hoping it might magically be right there on top of the sandy shore...

The treasure detecting, scooping and shoveling began- it was 9:30 pm...

At 10:10pm we had already collected a bounty: an 80's earing, a fishing weight, a pop tab, $.35(not pictured), and a piece of tin.

it got darker and colder...

I felt defeated- I sat with Sheila on the shore, trying just to appreciate the adventure of this story even though we hadn't found the ring...then one last sweep, its 10:23- tide will be at its lowest in 7 minutes. Kelly and Ryan decide to go right back to the spot we best remembered I was standing.

Kelly got a beep on the treasure detector- Ryan grabs a scoop of sand, sifts through and then we hear "oh -oh-ooooh ooooooh " from both the boys...and we knew...VICTORY!!!!

Myself and the treasure hunter team that found the jewels- big smiles all around!

Boys rehashing the "find". On an interesting note*Ryan's skills as a treasure hunter weren't diminished a bit by his cast, actually neither were his diving skills earlier in the day considering- he had to keep his arm above water(with help from Sheila), while he scoured the sea floor.

Celebrating afterwards...ring looking sparkly and new from the sand polish it had received for over 6 hours earlier that day.
